Beginners ROAD ride

Saturday September 11

Novice Bicycle Ride: Greenville Watershed
Departs promptly 9:00am from Green's Six Oaks Mall, near Hendersonville.
We will be following the old road that was the link between Greenville, SC and Asheville
in the days before Highways. It is a spectacular ride with a glimpse at what roads looked
like 50 years ago. The gradient for these roads will not exceed 5% but we will have a
long gradual 5 mile climb coming out of South Carolina. We will be in an area known as
The Greenville Watershed, meaning no houses, no food, no water and no rest rooms.
There is no cell phone coverage in this area.
Most of the ride will be in the shade except later in the day.
** For those who don't want the full 35 mile ride there will be a "bail out" option
making it a 10 mile ride through some really pretty country roads.
PLEASE PRINT AND BRING YOUR OWN CUE SHEET:

DIRECTIONS: I-26 past Hendersonville, and take US 25 south toward Greenville, SC.
Take exit #3 -Green River Road exit-at the end of the exit ramp turn left. Greens Marathon
gas station/ truck stop will be on your left. The Hendersonville-branch library is at the
same exit. Do not park in front of the Library. We can use the grass area between the
library and Green's service station. Greens will be the only facilities for our ride.
