Hello Autumn...

Welcome to my absolute favorite time of year!  Unfortunately I have to lay low this year...hang the bike up and watch my step (stupid yellow jackets!)  So we are making a few changes to our last month of group rides...yep, you heard me, LAST month of group rides!  We will continue through October with our intermediate level group but I am sorry to say the beginners group is done for the year.  Janet will continue to lead an intermediate level ride on Oct 4 & Oct 18.  The time will remain at 6 (be there early and ready to roll at 6!) the change: LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED!!!  You will be riding into the dark (which is super awesome I must say!) and must have lights to find your way back to your car...there are no street lights on the trails and it can get pretty spooky (I know from experience!)  If you have never ridden in the dark you definitely should find some lights to borrow and try it out...brings a whole new experience to mtbiking!

I want to thank everyone who came out this year...we consistently had a great turn-out and I think many of you made some new cycling friends which I hope you continue to ride until next year when our group rides will start again!  If you are not already on our Facebook group I highly encourage you to join!  It is a private group to maintain the safety of our women (I don't like announcing I am going to go play in the woods at this exact time & place to the unknown crazy world!)  There are men on the group but they are either associated with another cycling group, bike shop, significant other to a cyclist or just a friend who likes to get the word out about women riding.  You can also email me here awcteam@gmail.com and I will put you on our mass emailing list when/if I announce or pass along info that may be of interest.  And finally, check out our blog  http://www.ashevillewomenscycling.com/clubteamnews.html

Another great group that does group rides is the Pisgah Area SORBA...they too split into groups according to ride level.  Their rides are on Wednesday: the beginner rides start at 5:30pm on Wednesday and the intermediate (Lights Required) rides start at 6:30pm.  You can find more info here:  http://www.pisgahareasorba.org/?p=2826  or on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pisgah-Area-SORBA/365079209856?ref=ts

Thank you everyone and I hope you have a wonderful Autumn & Winter and I will see you next Spring...
Laurie

I do plan on filling in the calendar with more cycling & running events as well as keep the blog updated with any fun things that may be happening in the 'cold' season!
