National Girls and Women in Sports Day postponed

Due to Saturday school for Buncombe County, the National Girls and Women in Sports Day, originally scheduled for this coming Saturday, Feb. 12, at UNC Asheville, has been postponed.

The event will now be held at UNCA from 9 a.m.-4 .pm. March 26. This community event is designed to expose women and girls to a variety of activities that will inspire them to lead active, healthy lives, and is open to women and girls, ages 6 and up. Limited space is still available. Registration is $15 per person and includes four clinics, T-shirt, goody bag, healthy lunch and door prizes.

Event highlights include:

Sports clinics run by qualified, professional college coaches and athletes
Drawings for door prizes
Chance to meet local female athletes and get autographs
It is sponsored by Asheville Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department in collaboration with UNC Asheville, Team Prestige Subaru-Cycle, Asheville Dance Revolution, Outdoor Family Fun Center, Buncombe County Parks and Recreation, Girls on the Run, Girl Scouts of WNC P2P, YMCA, Ultimate Frisbee Club, Disc Golf Association, and the YWCA.
